ARINC 818 Training

Understanding, Designing, Simulating & Testing
A hands-on workshop: Thursday, March 19, 2020

9am-4pm - Diagora Convention Center - Autan Room, 1st Floor

This hands-on workshop will provide a deep dive into the ARINC 818 protocol, and its applications. It is appropriate for system architects, avionics engineers and production test engineers. This workshop will provide valuable information that draws from GRT’s experience as the world leader in ARINC 818 tools and systems. Participants will get experience using the most advanced ARINC 818 tools available.

SCHEDULE

Session 1: Best Practices in Testing, Simulating & Validating ARINC 818 Systems ~ Tim Keller

Session 2: Implementing the ARINC 818 Protocol into your Hardware and IP Core considerations. ~Jon Alexander

Session 3: Advanced Product features for Troubleshooting, Testing and Simulating ~ Tim Keller & Jon Alexander

We will use a case study of running a DO-160 qualification test and running production ATPs.

Session 4: Open Lab ~ GRT and Techway

We will provide real-life scenarios for participants to get experience using the world’s most comprehensive set of ARINC 818 tools.

ALL SESSIONS WILL INCLUDE HANDS-ON EQUIPMENT DEMOS

You will become certified on GRT’s ARINC 818 Simulation and Test Product Suite by attending, and successfully completing the required case studies and labs.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Jon Alexander Headshot

Jon Alexander (MSEE), Senior Engineer/CEO

Jon has 34 years’ experience in electronics design and specialized knowledge in all GRT ARINC 818 products. In 1996, he founded GRT, which specializes in high performance digital video systems for aerospace and military customers.  Mr. Alexander served on the ARINC 818 standards committee, and has been a chief designer of numerous ARINC 818, FC-AV, and HOTLink systems.

THE ARINC 818 STANDARD

The ARINC 818 video interface and protocol standard manages high-bandwidth, low-latency, uncompressed digital video transmission. Jon Alexander and Tim Keller of Great River Technology participated in its development.

Today it is the proven commercial standard and military de facto standard for high-performance video systems. The Airbus A400M and A350XWB, the Boeing 787, and the KC-46A tanker all employ ARINC 818, as do avionics projects in Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Israel, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

ARINC 818 video systems include infrared and other wavelength sensors, optical cameras, radar, flight recorders, map/chart systems, synthetic vision, image fusion systems, heads-up displays, heads-down multifunction displays, and video concentrators. These video systems are used for taxi and take-off assist, cargo loading, navigation, target tracking, collision avoidance, and other critical functions.
